The Vegan Fashion Show is a Canadian nonprofit organization and evidence-based educational fashion event.
Vegan fashion has come a long way. Gone are the days where you used to have to choose between inferior vegan materials that fall apart, or materials made from cruel animal exploitation. We’re now at the beginning of a revolution of better materials that offer everything you'd want in fashion; without harming the animals.
Next generation materials are animal-free and superior in sustainability compared to conventional animal-derived fur, leather, wool, silk, down, and exotic skins. Innovative next gen materials use only a fraction of the resources that animal-derived materials require and output a fraction of the pollution. Many next gen materials can help us move towards a circular economy. There are even zero plastic options. For example, according to Material Innovation Initiative, next gen faux furs made from plants - not plastic - have 40%-90% less C02 emissions compared to animal fur. These are the kind of numbers we need to see when we’re in a climate crisis!
In the past, we have held our standalone events in Toronto, with all proceeds going to Animal Justice. From 2022 to 2023, we raised $10,000 CAD for this noble organization creating meaningful change for animals in Canada. For 2024, we are partnering with likeminded events that care about people, animals, and the planet.
We are proud to facilitate an inclusive and diverse platform for artists of various modalities in the community. Our designers, vendors, models, musicians, makeup artists, hair stylists, volunteers, and audience come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
